Monstress are a five-piece all-female and non-binary creative collective based on Gadigal land in Sydney. Frontwoman Sarah Homeh writes, manages, produces, and performs for the band on electric bass and vocals.
She is joined by drummer/percussionist Hayley Chan, keyboardist Hazel Alexander, guitarist and graphic designer Adrianna Cicchitelli, and saxophonist/vocalist Jenna Lewis, all of whom are key collaborators across songwriting, composition, and visual media creation.
Their sound spans nu-jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary original music, fusing each member’s lived experience through hard-hitting, sharp-witted lyrical storytelling and improvisation-driven composition. Since 2022, Monstress have appeared on major festival line-ups including Kiama Jazz and Blues Festival, Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival, Orange Winter Jazz Festival, Marrickville Music Festival, and the Woodford Folk Festival 25/26 program.
