Hailing from Melbourne, Joshua Batten is a genuine musical storyteller, blending elements of Blues, Country, Folk and Rock with insightful and relatable lyrics. Based on his experiences living with neurodiversity, he turns his personal introspective moments into powerful, universal anthems. Joshua combines live looping, fiery riffs, progressive acoustic picking, and powerhouse vocals to create an intricate, layered, and high-energy sonic landscape. An accomplished instrumentalist with clarity in his voice, he commands an audience’s full attention in his one-man show.
Joshua’s third full-length studio album and fourth project overall “True Optimism” will be released on September 28th. Coming four years after his sprawling theatrical song cycle ‘Learn To Live Again’, ‘True Optimism’ sees Batten returning to standalone storytelling in individual songs, combining heartfelt insightful lyrics with accessible melodies, choruses and musicianship, straddling genres while retaining his personal identity and style.
